Simply give it a name, and check the time against your camera.

The only preparation needed is to ensure that the camera clock and the phone clock matches. Check the timezone as well!

If you want the sound files to have markers on them, check the sound recorder.

The aim here is to keep your eyes on the set and type whatever comes to your mind.

We know typing takes time, so instead of setting the time you hit enter as the time of the marker, we set the time of the marker the moment you hit the keyboard for the first time after hitting enter.

Export one project at a time, or all at once. The exported file will be attached to an email that you could send to yourself or your editor.

Before using the companion apps, you will have to ingest your media into FCPX and export a fcpxml with General or Basic metadata.

You could do any organisational task before you export, but be aware that only the information that will be carried over in the xml will be available after putting in the markers.

Simply drag the files you've got onto the Markit MacOS companion app. One file at a time.

The MacOS app will show you where your first marker will land. Set an offset value or just hit export for your new fcpxml!

You can put negative values, or put 0 into the offset fields. To start over, just close and re-open the app.

Started typing but decided not to put a marker? Like we mentioned before, the marker timing is set once you've hit any keystroke. So just type delete or anything and hit enter to reset the timing. You could delete the markers later.

Mark the time of the slate, and when the "Action!" is being called. Mark it if there's a false start, keep rolling, or tail slate. The editors will surely thank you as it is often a practice for them to make markers at these points.

You can't set keyword ranges like some other apps do, but you can still type 'something start' or 'something.e'.

It's not ideal, but we don't want to put in more buttons after stuffing a keyboard onto a tiny phone.

Markers don't need to have content, so if you find yourself too busy to type, just hit enter! An empty marker will be created.
